The Lost Balloons

WALT: Entertain

Once there was a guinea pig called Coco and he had three balloons that he treasered  and the ballooons had lasted for a whole YEAR. A YEAR! Can you believe it?

One interesting and rather sunny day Coco took a stroll with his three balloons to a carrot patch to get some breakfast. He munched his carrots down in a hurry before skipping to his friend's house where he spent the day. They had planned a swim in the pond, but on this particular day the pond was crowded. It was swarming with so many rodents they couldn't even fit, especially with Coco's balloons, and so they left.

When he finally had to go home, he tied his balloons to a tree. What he didn't realise was that he just made the biggest misstake of his life. Then as he went to sleep the knot slowly unraveled...

Criteria:

Matrix showing what you think and what your inquiry teacher thinks.

Get It, Sort It, Use It Model

Evaluation:
1. What are you most proud of? I am most proud of  getting information (Get It) usually I would just go to one or two sites but this time I went to at least five sites.

2. What did you find challenging? The thing that challenged me the most was working in a group to cook because they didn't agree with me.

3.  My next ‘Get It’ goal is?  My next get it goal is to learn about different food around the world.

              Introduction
Once there was a guinea pig called Coco and he had three balloons that he loved and had for lasted for 2 whole years!! And they never popped.

When he woke up to find his balloons floating up up up and away far into the sky he chased them for hours and hours.
Then he found himself ten feet off the ground in a river.
He finally made it to shore, he kept on running and running and running.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 2
Then he stopped for once and realised he was on a mysteries island with a jungle surrounding him then he climbed a tree to see if he could see his balloons floating up up up into the air. Then he spotted them but it was very dark so he had to go to sleep.

When he woke up they were gone it was a good thing he had tracking device when he turned it on he saw them on the camera they were in paris how could they get there!!!!!!!!!!! and they were stuck on the Eiffel Tower how could that happen, he could not believe his eyes. They hated the cruise then as soon as the sumbrine was on land again they Sprinted off and then Coco said lets go home but chocolate said what way would that be? North. "Come on"

"Then they went home they got three balloons each and went on many adventures together. They got married to lovely wives that also loved adventures, and every day they would find a new adventure and meet new animals they evan made a human friend and learned how to speak human.

Evaluation
How has your writing has improved this term? I think I got a lot better at adding more detail and added precise technical language to make it more interesting.

The part of my story I am most proud of is….Chapter four because I think I made it interesting and I think it flowed really well and it was very interesting.

Next time, what is a goal you can work towards? Maybe I could make my chapters a bit longer and my story a bit longer too.

Feedback/Feedforward: I  think you need to read your story out loud and check the mistakes you made, but apart from that your story was great.

Reading Sample

My reading goal this term was to: Compare

TASK inquiring readers go through a process to gather, organise and respond to new information. We have been using  the ‘GET IT, SORT IT, USE IT’ process for our own reading inquiry.

My inquiry question was…  Use a varitey of texts with similar themes to make text-text and world-text connections

WALT
GET IT...use a range of sources by questioning and predicting
SORT IT...analyse and sort information to answer my question: see if my thinking has changed, look for patterns by questioning inferring, summarising
USE IT…discuss what I have found out with others and make connections

SUCCESS CRITERIA
I can research using a range of sources
I can keep asking questions as a research
I can sort information and see patterns
I can show changes in my thinking
I can co-operate with others to discuss ideas
I can share my learning with others
I can manage my own learning and behaviour to work independently

How did my thinking change during my inquiry?  At first I just thourght about Therapy dogs then I only thought about service dogs then I looked on a website and discovered all sorts of different service dogs such as Police Dogs, Guide Dogs and many more.

What patterns did I notice?  The patterns I noticed was that lots of different dogs need different jobs because then they won't do it propaly and they won't enjoy it as much.

Feedback/FeedForward: Wow Tabitha you have done really well. I think you need to improve on  making the colours match.

Newtons Cradle

Do you know what a newtons cradle is?
A newtons cradle is model made by sir Isaac Newton.
He made to help people understand kinetic and potential energy.

For example when you rub your hands together they are getting warmer because you are applying fiction.

Just like when you get bucket of beads and leave a bit hanging out of the side and pull it, if you pull in hard enough it will fall out by it;s self because one side is heaver then the other.

If you get a tennis ball and a basket ball and hold them both up then drop them at the same time you will find that the basket ball will bounce higher and for longer because it has more potential energy.
