Reading Sample

My reading goal this term was to: Compare

TASK inquiring readers go through a process to gather, organise and respond to new information. We have been using  the ‘GET IT, SORT IT, USE IT’ process for our own reading inquiry.

My inquiry question was…  Use a varitey of texts with similar themes to make text-text and world-text connections

GET IT...use a range of sources by questioning and predicting
SORT IT...analyse and sort information to answer my question: see if my thinking has changed, look for patterns by questioning inferring, summarising
USE IT…discuss what I have found out with others and make connections

I can research using a range of sources
I can keep asking questions as a research
I can sort information and see patterns
I can show changes in my thinking
I can co-operate with others to discuss ideas
I can share my learning with others
I can manage my own learning and behaviour to work independently

How did my thinking change during my inquiry?  At first I just thourght about Therapy dogs then I only thought about service dogs then I looked on a website and discovered all sorts of different service dogs such as Police Dogs, Guide Dogs and many more.

What patterns did I notice?  The patterns I noticed was that lots of different dogs need different jobs because then they won't do it propaly and they won't enjoy it as much.

Feedback/FeedForward: Wow Tabitha you have done really well. I think you need to improve on  making the colours match.

  1. Hi Tabitha, you made some great connections using GET IT, SORT IT, USE IT - do you think this is a process you could use for other inquiries?

    1. Thanks Suzanne I think that is going to be very helpful in my real inquiry with Keri
