Maori Whakatauki Market Day

Description: We recently had market day here is a Whakatauki we learned. A Whakatauki is a maori proverb. We learnt this one because it relates to market day and is working as a group...
Ehara taki toa, he takitahi, He toa taki tini
Our task was to say what this means in our own words and say why it relates to market day...
I think that it means that you share your success with everyone not just yourself.

Athletics Reflection

What was the most enjoyable part of athletics for you? I really enjoyed the high jump, because it is my favorite event in athletics I really enjoy high jump because I love the feeling of clearing the pole after you have jumped, and the thrill of running flying through the air.

What are you really proud of? Why?
I am really proud of myself for coming first in long jump and high jump because last year I came 2nd and 3rd (Aria bet me) and I thought that would again but I surprised myself.
What was the most challenging part? Why?
The eight hundred meter run was definitely the hardest because I am not used running long distances and can sometimes not pace myself.

Where to now? What are your goals for next time? Why do you want to focus on this?
I would like to get better at running long distances so I can get into the top 5 next year I want to focus on this because I am already good at the short distance and don't need to improve right now.

Then we made an action plan we wrote down our risk, the things\resources that we would need to complete the risk and any strategies that would help, here is mine.

Cloud Writing

Description: This week we have been writing about clouds who named the why were they named, we watched a video then we took notes on a burger plan we then began our draft.

Image:

These are all the different cloud types:

Cirrus, Stratus and Cumulus why are clouds called that why are they named in the first place who named them, have you ever thought about it wondered? Well if you have read this to find out more.

Luke Howard was a pharmesist but he had a passion for clouds he wanted to be a meteorologist but he was so busy watching the clouds the only class he payed attention in was Latin and because of that he acutely had a good understanding of clouds because he observed them so much he built a understanding.

He found out that clouds have many shapes but few forms such as cirrus which means hair in latin you see Cirrus clouds high in the air on sunny days, Stratus which means layer or sheet wich you can see on alright days in the low section of the sky and lastly Cumulus wich means heap or pile in Latin this is also a low cloud, so there you have it Luke Howard named the clouds that we see in the sky today.

SLC Reflecton

Description: Yesterday I had my student led conference with Troy and my mum. The teachers gave us some questions to answer about my SLC.

Having the chance to share my learning with my mum, because I don't get todo that very often and since that was last SLC at school I wanted to make it memorable.

2) What did you do differently to make your SLC stand out?
Well I think that I made mine stand out by sharing my learning without looking at the post really sharing for the heart.

3) How will you make your Home Led Conference in Term 3 be awesome? What things might you do to make it awesome?
I could make it interesting by making them feel like they are part of the learning weather it be asking them questions in a different language or simply asking themmaths questions.

Sea Turtle Writing

Description: This term our writing has been around sea turtles, first we watched a video so we could learn about sea turtles then we made a plan, so we knew what we were going to write about, then we started our drafts.

Image:

Here is my writing

Sea turtles have been around for 150, 000, 000 every 20 years females lay 1000 eggs on the beach they bury them high up on the beach so that the tide doesn't wash them away, out of 1000 eggs 800 hatch 400 make it to the water the other 400 get killed by crabs and seabirds because they can’t look after themselves, 200 make it to maturing age and 20 lay eggs 2 survive pollution that's a 96% chance of surviving.

Growing up. It’s not easy when you're a sea turtle you have no friends your on your own you die it’s over you didn’t help repopulate another turtle dead.

Babies. As small as the palm of your hand came from the size of a dinner table not fast enough to run away from the deadly predators of the sea, scared and lonely.

Sea turtles must have a hard life, I for sure wouldn’t want to be one.
